Biography of Maia JAPARIDZE

Dr. Maia Japaridze received her Master’s degree in Medicine from Tbilisi State Medical University and did her residency in Gastroenterology and OB/GYN and became certified doctor and worked as Gastroenterologist as OB/GYN doctor.

Maia also worked with American organization in American Military bases in Afghanistan and Iraq for 6 years. She was promoted to HSE Manager of Health, Safety and Environment departament of LOGCAP III, Middle East project. She also worked as a Doctor at the clinic in the NATO Airbase in Afghanistan.

After Maia returned to Georgia she started working as a technical specialist suporrting several projects in US CDC office including Hep C elimination programme. She also took the FELTP course leaded by US CDC in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Maia joined FIND in Jan 2017 as the Georgia HCV Country Project Manager. She has successfully coordinated the protfolio of projects that FIND has undertaken with partners in Georgia as part of Unitaid funded, HEAD-Start. These projects ranged from research and development studies and clinical validation studies for emerging HCV diagnostic technologies to multiple access projects including the simplified HCV diagnostic service delivery stduy and integration of HCV testing into existing near point of care testing platforms.
